A successful businessman and a passionate photographer, Prakash Ghai is an inspiration to many. He began his journey in December 2012 with a 5-megapixel Canon Camera and a few stationery products as his subjects. And he has come a long way. He is a global curator and promoter for the Learn Minimalism label. To date, he has curated about 5,50,000 images submitted under the #LearnMinimalism on Instagram.
Parkash Ghai’s studio can be anywhere from a park to a building to narrow bylanes of the old city. He carries his camera and with his creative eye, every nook and corner becomes his studio. He will take you on a tour of Jawahar Kala Kendra and point out many important aspects of photography, particularly minimalist photography. Minimalist Photography is a post-modern style of photography that captures the simplest and the smallest objects. These objects form a part of our everyday lives and often are ignored from a human perspective.
Inspired by the work of 20th-century artists, this technique is used to highlight the geometrical and introspective aspects of the environment to create a visual treat. It follows the principles of simplicity to convey the concept clearly and concisely. It runs on the symmetrical elements of the subject to deliver an artistic picture highlighting the psyche of the person behind the lens.
